The purpose of the Know Your Rights (Required for Direct Care Workers) e-learning is to prepare direct care workers with the knowledge they need to understand their basic rights as direct care workers in compliance with House Bill 25-1328. Please note that Colorado direct care employers are required to provide this training to the direct care workers they employ.

Direct Care Worker Mentor Training

As a mentor, you’ll support new staff to help them succeed in their roles and create a positive work environment. This module will cover the mentor’s role, building supportive relationships with mentees, effective communication, and problem-solving.

This module describes age-related changes in the body and their impacts on decision-making regarding members’ care.

Talking about Disability

This module covers various types of disabilities, distinguishes between medical and social models of disability, emphasizes the importance of using person-first or identity-first language based on the member’s preference, explores the Americans with Disabilities Act and related violations, and addresses harmful disability stereotypes.

Your Role as an Employee

This module summarizes professional behaviors to set yourself up for success as a DCW and explains policies and procedures for agency and self-directed employers.

Building Your Skills as a Professional

This module identifies building your skills as a professional, setting personal and professional boundaries, and respecting differences.
